Notification to Applicants

1. Application Deadline
Different programmes have different application deadlines. Please refer to the website of each programme for details.

2. Submission of Application Form
Applicants are required to provide true, accurate and complete information in support of their applications. Any misrepresentation in the documents and information provided will result in disqualification of their applications and subsequent enrolments in the University(Fees paid are non-refundable in this case).
For all applications:
2.1 Read carefully these Notes for Applicants.
2.2 Arrange for the supporting documents listed in section 3 to reach each programme applied for by the application deadline.

3.Submission of Supporting Documents
Applicants who apply for admission should upload the following supporting documents’ softcopies at “Online System for Applicants of Postgraduate Programmes”. Please always quote the Application No. in your future correspondences.
Documents required include:
3.1 Scanned copy of certificates of academic/professional qualifications (e.g., university certificate of graduation, examination certificates and other qualifications).
3.2 Scanned copy of original official transcripts (with a complete record of courses attended and examination results) and grading scheme of all tertiary level studies.
3.3 Confidential recommendations (for all applicants) from two referees. The recommendations should be sent directly from the referees to the relevant Graduate Panel/ Programme:
3.3.1 Input two referees’ information through the “Online System for Applicants of Postgraduate Programmes” ; or
3.3.2 Recommendations are requested from each referee and should be sent to related Graduate Panel no later than three weeks upon the submission of application. (Please note that an automatic email will be sent to the referee when you complete the information online. The referee can respond directly to this email for the Recommendation.)
3.4 Any one of the following score reports/certificates, showing that you have fulfilled the English Language Proficiency Requirement for admission to the Graduate Panel (upload the scanned copy):
3.4.1 a. TOEFL (the University’s institution code is B429), or IELTS (Academic), or GMAT (the University’s institution code is N8N); or
3.4.2 Certified true copy* of report of the English Language subject of Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (AS Level), or Hong Kong Higher Level Examination, or Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, or CUHK Matriculation Examination; or
3.4.3 Obtained a degree from a university in Hong Kong or taken a degree programme of which the medium of instruction was English; or
3.4.4 Certified true copy* of certificate of a recognized professional qualification awarded in Hong Kong or in an English speaking country. Different programmes may accept different professional qualifications, please contact respective Graduate Panels for details.
* The certified true copy must be issued by the official organization or relevant test organization. The University may require applicants to provide the original documents for verification.
3.5 A photocopy of your ID card or other identity document as given in the Application Form.
3.6 Specific materials required by the relevant Graduate Panel as listed in the Postgraduate Prospectus.
3.7 The University may require applicants to submit additional information or documentary proof if deemed necessary.
3.8 Applicants with special needs may opt to declare their disability at the application stage. Applicants are encouraged to discuss their needs (e.g. special examination arrangements) with Graduate Panels concerned.

4.Application Fee
The application fee for admission to one postgraduate programme is RMB 600 (For applicants to enroll in AY 2025-26 and beyond). More information, please refer to https://www.cuhk.edu.cn/zh-hans/page/8803. The application fee, once paid, is not refundable. Applicants should pay the application fee in the online application system.

5.Selection Process
Graduate Panels will begin the selection process upon receipt of the applications and recommendations. Individual programmes may require applicants to take an entrance test or attend interviews. Applicants will be notified by Graduate Panels concerned separately.

6.Application Result
Applicants can log in to https://pgapply.cuhk.edu.cn/ or contact the applied programe through https://gs.cuhk.edu.cn/page/28 to inquire about your application results.

7.Handling of Information
The information collected from the application form will be used for the following purposes:
7.1 As a basis for selection of applicants for admission to postgraduate programmes offered by the University and other related purposes;
7.2 For verifying information about the applicant’s public examination results and academic record in relevant institutions;
7.3 For identifying records of previous studies as a student in the University or other institutions;
7.4 As part of the applicant’s student record upon registration for a programme, which will be used for all purposes relating to his/her studies in accordance with the procedures of the University;
7.5 For identifying multiple enrolments at this University or at any other tertiary institutions upon registration for a programme;
7.6 If necessary, maybe transferred to other units within the University to facilitate admission verifications communication, operations and planning; and
7.7 For statistical and research purposes and in such circumstances, personal identifiers will be removed.

9.Office Hours of the Graduate School
Mon – Fri 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon & 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
