Copyright
The Chinese laws protect the copyright of authors in their original works include literatures, newspapers and periodicals, computer programs, photos, movies, audio records and radio etc. The creators hold the exclusive right to use or authorize others to use their work - including its reproduction, public performance and broadcasting. COPYRIGHT LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA exempts limited copyright for learning purpose, such as individual learning, research and appreciation, comment, news report, class for school teaching, teaching for science research, applying pieces for scientific researchers etc.
Infringement of copyright is a serious offence and may lead to civil remedies or even criminal sanctions. Violation of copyright, such as excessively downloading electronic content, would be a serious offence against the local law and the University's charter agreement, and students would be subject to disciplinary action.
