Is it required for graduating students to apply for graduation?

No, students do not have to apply for graduation. When students are about to reach the expected graduation date and after the grade for all courses taken have been released, the Graduate Panel and the Graduate School will arrange to conduct graduation assessment for the students. If the student fulfils all graduation requirement of the programme (including course work, etc.), he/she will be recommended for graduation.

After completion of study, is it necessary to apply for certifying letter and/or transcript?

Once the Board of Graduate Studies has approved the graduation recommendation, students may print their own free certifying letter using the self-service printers located outside Room 302 of the Student Center. For details on the pickup procedures, please visit: https://gs.cuhk.edu.cn/en/page/219

Is it possible to speed up the graduation process or obtain the proof of graduation sooner?

The Graduate School will process the graduation assessment and issue the proof of graduation to students as soon as possible. Frequent enquiry to the Graduate School and Graduate Panel on the progress may slow down the process.

What will happen if I am unable to fulfil all graduation requirements by the expected graduation date?

Students who do not meet all graduation requirements will be notified of the outcome of their graduation assessment, those required to continue their studies may still use their student ID cards as usual.

When will the graduation certificate be issued?

Graduate certificates are issued in April for Term 1 graduates, in August for Term 2 graduates, and in October/November for Summer Term graduates. Students will be notified of the collection arrangements in due course.
